Jammy Red Roo

by Paul Winalski » Sat Jul 16, 2022 12:10 pm

One of the boxes that the NH State Liquor Store packed my purchases in caught my eye. It was a [Yellow Tail] box for a wine I hadn't heard of before called Jammy Red Roo. According to the Yellow Tail website this is a mainly shiraz/cabernet, sweet, non-vintage blend. They recommend it with BBQ or in your favourite sangria or cocktail recipe. Has anyone out there tried this? Port and Tintilla de Rota aside, I'm not a fan of sweet red wines, so it sounds pretty horrible to me.

Why would we even think about trying it?

Might have been inflicted on someone at a party. My first thought certainly was, "ewww!"

But it would be a chance for me to give out a Joe Besser rating on the Three Stooges system.

Your first clue is 'Jammy'--like why would you go any further than that.

Exactly, Jenise. In the same category is "Butter Chardonnay". And that wine is produced by--wait for it--JaM Cellars. That's not a joke.

Stuart Pigott tried the JRR, and posted a video about it on Instagram.
