Wednesday at the park, I carried tomato/feta/basil, octopus, cold chicken & , and taramasalata, plus I sampled Fred’s delicious fish terrine.

2021 Baudry Chinon Rose
Full, taut, sweet fruit profile than last year, herby and fun. B+

2017 Fichet Auxey-Duresses Blanc
Flint, pear, and citrus, good cut, nice length, should have bought more. B+

2020 Christina Zweigelt
Light, a bit of barnyard funk, somewhat grapey, others liked a lot more than I did. B-/C+

Some friends are heading to CA for six weeks, they came for dinner, we started with octopus, salami with pickled radicchio, boquerones with peppers

NV Diebolt-Vallois Blanc de Blancs Champagne
Tangy, light-bodied but with some verve, green apple with saline notes, fun. B+/B

Then burrata caprese

2018 Hatzidakis Skitali Assyrtiko
Bright, full, long, balanced.B+/A

Main was salmon, pasta with pesto, grilled squash and fairytale eggplant with neonata
2019 Goodfellow House Block Pinot Noir
Cranberry and red plum, spicy, pretty bound in acids and tannin at moment. Potential, but B for drinking now

Then peaches and ice cream, with the 1989 Huguet Pinon Vouvray Demi-Sec. Odd wine, I thought corked, but it was more mushroomy than wet cardboard. Good acids, but not something I’d want to drink or serve. C?

Good times with friends.

Grade disclaimer: I'm a very easy grader, basically A is an excellent wine, B a good wine, C drinkable. Anything below C means I wouldn't drink at a party where it was only choice. Furthermore, I offer no promises of objectivity, accuracy, and certainly not of consistency.

Had the same reaction to that Goodfellow. Too much acid to enjoy drinking at present. Hard to tell where it's going.

Based on the 2016-2018, I suspect it will be fine.

Perhaps. But it's unusual to encounter an under-3-year-old Oregon pinot that's has more screech than fruit--I didn't buy more.
