2017 Once & Future Wine Mataro Oakley Road Vineyard - USA, California, San Francisco Bay, Contra Costa County (8/5/2022)
Served a little warm at first, as hot summer days are taxing the air conditioning. A quick diversion to the fridge brought it down to a normal temp (65 ish) and allowed the fruit to blossom without undue intrusion from the alcohol. A little bit sappy (hey Contra Costa!) with a firm acid core and finishing tannins. It borders on the luscious, but the structure pulls it back. Probably a lot of time to go with this one.
