by TomHill » Sun Aug 07, 2022 5:02 pm

Tried these two wines the other night:
1. hive & Honey GWT MontereyCnty/EstateVnyds (11.5%; www.HiveAndHoneyWines.com) Greenfield 2020: Light gold color; some lychee/GWT/lightly spicy some low-key/subtle pleasant enough nose; soft slight metallic off-dry (4%-8% r.s.?) light lychee/GWT/lightly grapey rather flat/dull/vapid flavor; short soft lightly GWT/lychee off-dry/sweet pretty bland/dull finish; a pretty enough GWT nose but pretty dull/vapid on the palate & too sweet for weenies & kraut. $8.00 (SMP)

More ferkleswart from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. The Hive&Honey WebSite has precious little solid information. Doesn't identify who's behind the wines. Seems to be a commodity designed for grocery store sales. Probably Delicato.

2. Mazuelo: The name for Carignane in the Rioja.

From Hive and Honey, rather overwrought:

[in flowing script] Life is sweet in Monterey. Enjoy it with us. Cheers to the sweetness of life!

Yuck.
My wine shopping and I have never had a problem. Just a perpetual race between the bankruptcy court and Hell.--Rogov

Isn't it really the other way around - Carignan is the French name for Mazuelo? At least per the JR tome on Wine Grapes the origins are more Spanish than French.
