2015 Weingut Rings Kallstadter Steinacker Spätburgunder trocken - Germany, Pfalz (12/28/2022)
On initial pop and pour this was almost candied in its fruit style. An hour of air calmed things down, and also brought out earthy and herbal elements that balanced and anchored the fruit. The longer the bottle was open the better it became. Subtle tannins brought further focus to the finish, and should keep things together for at least another 5-7 years in the cellar. This was my first Spätburgunder from Rings, but I would happily try more.
