by TomHill » Mon Mar 13, 2023 3:22 pm

We tried these three at Pig+Fig the other day:
1. Solminer Syrah Carbonic SantaYnezVlly (12%; bttld Dec 17/2021; btl # 3091 of 3612) 2012: Med.light color; quite pretty bright/spicy/cherry/Syrah rather fragrant lovely nose; slight petillant bright/spicy/cherry/Syrah light earthy quite pretty flavor w/ light brisk tannins; med.long bright/spicy/cherry/Syrah slight petillant finish w/ little tannins; an unusual expression of Syrah but a rather pretty Vin de Soif for easy drinking. $32.00

2. Solminer Grenache BallardCnyn/SantaBarbaraCnty (12.8%; 96 cs; U/U) Buellton 2021: Med.light color; strong Grenache/strawberry/cherry slight earthy light oak bit spicy rather pretty nose; quite tart/tangy strong Grenache/strawberry/pretty bit earthy/chalky bit lean flavor w/ light tangy tannins; long bright/cherry/strawberry/Grenache light chalky finish; nothing profound but a quite pretty lightweight expression of Grenache. $42.00

3. Solminer Blumenfeld DeLandaVnyd/LosOlivosDist (12%; 50% Syrah/42% Blaufrankisch/8% St.Laurent; 156 cs) 2021: Med.dark color; fairly strong earthy bit rustic/loamy mblackberry/black cherry mostly earthy/BF light oak rather interesting nose; fairly tart/tangy rather earthy/loamy/bit rustic/coarse strong blackberry/black cherry cola light oak flavor w/ light tangy tannins; long earthy/loamy/BF/dusty some blackberry/black cherry cola fairly tart finish w/ light tannins; dominated by the earthy/loamy BF character but the Syrah gives it a certain brightness; reminds some of a Burgenland BF by Roland Velich/Moric; interesting wine but just that. $42.00

More rittledak from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. These three were a lot like many of the Solminer reds. Pretty/interesting wines but not a lot of depth or intensity & it just leaves you wanting a bit more.
