Champagne bottle lot numbers

So Taittinger has offered to replace the corked Comtes we had a few days ago. They asked for this: "send us the lot number engraved on the champagne bottle (at the groove under the aluminium cap)."

Neither magnifying glass nor jewellers loupe managed to reveal a number. So I got out another of the same vintage (08) and removed the aluminum on it to see if another bottle had such a number. No.

Any help?

I can dig out one of mine and check.

I grabbed one of my 2008s and removed the foil from the bottom, and on the back of the bottle there was a laser engraved set of numbers running vertical on the neck of the bottle. Hard to see them without good lighting.
