by TomHill » Tue May 02, 2023 5:23 pm

Tried these two last night:
1. Nanclares y Prieto Pergola Dandelion WW Dd'O: Rias Baixas (12%; Llaurador Wines/Fairfax/CA) Cambados 2021: Med.light gold color; some floral/Albarino/earthy very slight natty surprisingly clean nose; fairly tart/tangy somewhat metallic very slight natty/unclean light floral/Albarino bit metallic/tangy pleasant enough flavor; med.long rather tart/tangy/sour lightly floral/Albarino slight funky/natty finish; no signs of any skin contact; not a very exciting Albarino but amazingly clean for a Llaurador. $24.00 (KK)

2. BonnyDoonVnyd LeCigare Orange Central Coast (10.5%, 11.6%; 80% GrenacheBlanc Beeswax + Windfall vnyds/10% GrenacheGris Lama del Rio vnyd/10% OrangeMuscat Carrasco vnyd; 4-5 days cold soak in rotary fermentor, on skins 8-10 days; BonnyDoonVnyd.com) KingCity 2022: Med.gold/amber/burnished bronze color; lightly phenolic/VM/resiny rather aromatic/honeysuckle/GB/floral slight herbal/some spicy quite attractive nose; bit soft fairly rich/lush light phenolic/VM/resiny slight earthy/metallic somewhat floral/honeysuckle/GB slight honeyed/graham cracker quite perfumed lovely flavor w/ very light tannins; finish mimics the flavor; lots of floral/honeysuckle/GB character; the VM character shows only in the color & very little VM/phenolic character in the nose or flavor; quite an attractive GB. $17.00 (SFW&S)

More aberanskit from TheBloodyPulpit:
1. Usually the Llaurador (natural wine slctn for Jose Pastor Wines) on the label is the kiss of death. They are usually very natty/unclean/mousey/funky. This wine had only a slight hint of natty that cleared up after being open for several hrs. Whatta surprise.
This is, I believe, Randall's first foray into a VinoMacerati. From the color, I was expecting a pretty strong phenolic hit. It was not there. It had plenty of very pretty GB fruit. A very nice GB at a very fair price.
