Had this at Connie's BD party on Sat:
1. Salvador Poveda Gran Reserva de Fondillon Alicante (16%; Btl # 667; BeaconWineCo/SanFrancisco) Salvador Perez/Monovar/Alicante/Spain 1980: Very dark brown/some old PX color; intense rather oxidative/old Madeira strong grapey/old Alicante/rancio some alcoholic quite complex rancio nose; bit soft rather rancio/oxidative slightly sweet bit alcoholic quite grapey/Alicante very complex rather overripe/rancio flavor w/ very light smooth/gentle tannins; very long/lingering rather alcoholic/fumey slightly sweet/late hrvsty very ripe/grapey some ocidative/rancio quite complex finish w/ light gentle tannns; quite an inteesting expression of a rancio AlicanteBouschet.

1. This is one I've had around from CortiBros for over 10 yrs that I've been wanting to try. It was an absolutely fascinating wine. The late hrvsty Alicante character came thru loud & clear & the slightly oxidative/rancio character made it all the more interesting.
