WTN: What’s up Médoc?

by David M. Bueker » Tue May 09, 2023 7:45 pm

2004 Château Giscours - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, Margaux (5/9/2023)
Decanted two hours prior to first taste, this was classic from the very first sip. Restrained cassis fruit, a touch of green tobacco, but then it added a little bit of blackberry to put just a dash of current vintages (even cooler ones) into the mix. Nothing overdone or out of place on the palate, it paired beautifully with a grilled pork loin. Moderately tannic, but with the fruit there’s no hurry. This should be excellent drinking for another 10-20 years for people who favor a more classic style of Bordeaux.
