Anyone Lnow These Wines?

by Jim Grow » Sun Mar 04, 2007 3:30 pm

I was at the Party Source and Jungle Jims in Cinci. on Fri. and picked up a bunch of wines but three were new to me and I see no notes on the search engine. They are 1997 Dalwhinnie Cabernet ($18 in the discount bin at JJ's) and 2005 Matthieu de Brully Bourgogne from the Cote d'Or. Also a Bordeaux, 2005 Chateau La Pierre Levee from the Cotes de Castillon. Anyone tasted any of these? I know if I lived closer to Jungle Jims I'd be in there every week!

i've enjoyed the Brully wines - would have to check notes for this in particular; but hard to go too far wrong from a good producer in 2005!

Jim
Assuming the Dalwhinnie is the Moonambel (and I don't recall them making another Cab) then it's a good wine with a good track record. Vintage wise, it's maybe average, but certainly not bad. One of the leading Aussie critics (Jeremy Oliver) has it marked down for 2007-2017 drinking, so should be still in good shape.
Worth a punt IMO - the price is very attractive.

Thanks David and Ian for the input. I'm looking forward to trying these and a bunch more new wines for me.
