WTN: Leitz Riesling Rüdesheimer Berg Schlossberg Spätlese'04

I love this vineyard .Most of my experience has come at the able hands of Joe Leitz or Weingut Georg Breuer. Leitz makes a livelier style to be sure, but the characteristic Berg Schlossberg intensity is evident even in 2004, not a vintage especially known for it. The Berg Schlossberg is like a great coach, it always gleans the best out of its players. If they don't always win the championship, they always make a good showing. This wine is of white peach, candied orange, pumpkin seeds, apple blossom, and musky black powder mineral. The acidity is quite penetrating and provides a well-matched game of tug-o-war with the lip smacking fruit. Quite good. I only wish there were a little more muscle behind it for longevities sake. 7,0 % alc. $25?
