I wandered into a local shop today and the wine person pulled me aside and said he had something for me to try:

1982 Ch. Haut Brion
Just the slightest tinge of rust in the color. The nose is quite cedary and rustic. Leather, tobacco and earth provide plenty of complexity. Tannins are well integrated and I was surprised at the acidity which wrapped nicely around the whole package. The only distraction was the dill which kicked in on the mid-palate and follow. Very nice, especially on someone Else's dime.
Apparently a customer had purchases 13 bottles of this wine a couple of hours earlier and gifted one bottle to the staff at the shop.

2003 JJ Prum Graacher Himmelreich Spatlese (Sorry, no AP)
Initially served too cold which muted the fruit. As it warmed, the pear and citrus flavors emerged. Unfortunately, this wine is yet another 2003 Riesling that lacks enough acidity for my palate. The lovely NJ was a lot more direct when she declared it flabby.
Smile, it gives your face something to do!
