Why on Earth would I want to pay $150 for a wine Parker had rated 96 points when I could, with a bit more work, buy a wine of equal quality that he hadn't reviewed for maybe 2/3 the price or less.

I see no reason to pay the 'Parker Premium' just to own a wine the Great Bobster has approved. I'd rather buy one that yours truly approves of for much less money.

If you must rely on someone else's opinion than your own, go with Tanzer - quite reliable and nowhere near the effect on prices that either the Wine Speculator or RP have.

I guess this thread goes to show what a polarizing figure Robert Parker has become....

Thanks to everybody for your feedback.

Termes, Numanthia Toro, Termanthia by Parker

by GeoCWeyer » Wed May 09, 2007 8:44 pm

Termes just under $20 usually scores in the very low 90's range
Toro I am able to purchase at $44 scores in the high mid 90's. (93-97)
Termanthia $150+ I believe scores a point or two higher than the Toro.

The Toro is so good year after year I can't imagine paying more than 3 times the price for it's big brother. Having tasted the Termanthia a number of times I always say, " Wonderful, but is it worth 3+ bottles of the Toro?" I don't think so.
I love the life I live and live the life I love*, and as Mark Twain said, " Always do well it will gratify the few and astonish the rest".

Parker rated the 2004 Vina Cobos Marchiori vineyard Malbec 96 points.
