  • 2005 Winzer von Erbach Erbacher Honigberg Riesling QbA - Germany, Rheingau (5/23/2007)
11.0%, $10/liter, AP 32 091 002 06. Imported by Kysela. Perfume, grass nose, absolute crystalline purity. In mouth less aromatic, halbtrocken sweetness, crisp, superb match with onion-marinated chicken. Perhaps my finest value of the year. Very Good.

Offensively *huge* bottle, weighing 900g/4lb empty!! That's more than a regular bottle of wine full. It doesn't fit in any of my racks, of course, and I will not be buying any more from La Chablisienne until this is fixed.

Opened after three weeks rest from shipping. Light-bodied, decent minerals, crisp but less so than average for Chablis, oak present but unobtrusive. We'll see how this develops. For now, Good+.

Not surprisingly, it was significantly easier to slip the cooling cylinder around the riesling than the Chablis. Stupid vanity bottles...
