WTN: ESJ Again (Bone Jolly Rosé)

by David M. Bueker » Sun Jun 10, 2007 10:50 am

Opened with take out Chinese, a bottle of the 2006 Edmunds St. John Bone-Jolly Rosé of Gamay was very quickly dispatched. THis was my fourth bottle, and every time it is totally slurpable. This time there seemed to be even more fruit, as the fresh strawberries were joined by a distinct raspberry flavor. Too much fun to be legal.[/b]

I had the same experience with a bottle about a week ago. The first bottle seemed more strawberry, but with this one I noticed more red raspberry fruit, and a tiny bit of bitterness at the finish that added a little something something.

Fine summer fun.

My but this is good stuff. Strawberries - loads of strawberries. Very dry, brisk acidity - This will be great stuff for Thanksgiving I think. I strongly disagree with whomever called this screeching acidity or whatever nonsense. I also strongly disagree with whomever decried this as short/ephemeral/non-existent finish. This is a dry and non-fizzy Vin du Bugey-Cerdon. Mmmmmmmm. Think I'll have another glass.

It was 80F and gorgeous down in ABQ this afternoon, and a friend (whom I turned on to this) served it before we went out to dinner. It was the perfect choice.

We went through 3 cases this summer. I am hoarding my last bottle. :?

I've still got 7 left. Perhaps I'll throw one into my tasting next week. :D
