Opened as an aperitif prior to my grilled lamb chops.

This actually smells like dry Riesling, except I have never smelled a dry Riesling that echoed seashells and salt air so clearly as does this wine. Ample fruit, as well as chalk, salt, stone and mineral dust flow across the palate in a package that is so much more than a simple Muscadet. This is nearly everything a wine should be. If you place a glass of this wine near your ear you can hear the ocean lapping against a sandy beach.

I love this wine. I hope you saved a glass for the next day, as I think it is even better as it opens. The 1989 L' d Or was just beautiful last night, so stash a few of the 04's underneath all your Riesling, if you can.

Yes, this is a fantastic wine, and one I'm trying to keep my hands off of (along with '04 Clos des Briords) for a few more years. Fortunately, I still have some of the '97 L D'Or to assuage my cravings.
