Wine help: Has anyone had a chance to try many of the '05 CdPs yet?

by Randy Buckner » Sun Jul 01, 2007 9:03 pm

I'll probably purchase my usual Chateauneuf suspects, but one wine friend said he found the wines a little hard??? I thought '05 was a decent vintage year. Were there problems with ripening? TIA.

We are just now beginning to see a few in our market here. Over the weekend I started tasting the Ch. Fortia Tradition 2005, $37. On the first night it really showed only its primary fruit. By last night it was starting to develop some depth and a few more layers. This is the first time that the Tradition has been in our market. Since 2001 we have only had the Cuvee de Baron, which I have alweays thought to be great for the price

Thanks, Michael. I've not seen any tastings in the area, nor anyone reporting on tastings. I see where Parker commented the vintage was very tannic; Tanzer has said nothing.
