Vinho de la Tierra de Castilla y Leon, Sardon de Duero.
A blend of Tempranillo (75 per cent), Cabernet Sauvignon (20) and Merlot (5).

Dark purple in the glass.

Dark chocolate and spicy nose, showing some beets with time.

Moderately thick in the mouth, coffee, rather fleshy and juicy black cherry and raspberry fruit, earth, peppery, heavily roasted, tart acidity, turning rather lean toward the finish. With time, the wine also picked up some vegetal notes (beets).

Tart and drying on the finish with a trace of dark chocolate bitterness.

Purchased on sale at $20.50 (Canadian).

An enjoyable wine and quite different from anything I have tasted recently.
