I had to vote "poor." All of the wine shops in PA are controlled by the state, and the people who work in them are state employees. Meaning, they are there to make some money, not to follow their passion! I'm lucky if in asking about a wine, someone can send me to the right area of the store.

I visited Pittsburgh about five years ago and truly commiserate with your situation. These are not wine shops, rather they are Liquor Stores that also have the exclusive monopoly to sell wine in that state. I asked where I could find a better selection, i.e. one at least as good as our local (upscale) grocery store. I was told there are designated Premium Wine Stores in the system. Unfortunately, the nearest one was quite distant from where I was at the time.
