2005 Strub Niersteiner Brückchen Riesling Kabinett - Germany, Rheinhessen (7/11/2007)
This wine continues on its random walk, alternating between austerity and lushness. Last night's bottle was the most balanced and delicious of the 5 I have opened so far. Floral, chalky & peachy on the nose, it positively exploded on the palate with ripe peach and citrus flavors and solid backing acidity that was more a part of the whole than in any prior bottle. No reductive notes (this is in screwcap), and I wonder if the continuing short-term improvement has anything to do with a longer setling time required due to the caps. An outstanding showing.

This was a great value at around $8 for a 375ml, and is a very handy size to have for a casual sip on a week night (though if pressed I am sure I could finish a 750ml).
