WTN: If it walks like a duck..

.. talks like a duck and looks like a duck, it probably is a duck. This one, on the other hand, is not. It looks, smells and tastes like a Madeira, but it is not. It is the fruit of the sad era for Tokaji wine in the communist time.

Tokaji Aszu 3 Puttonyos 1983, Borkombinát. (State monopoly).

Brown orange color with some "dark fog" in the bottle.
Tea and volatile acids on the nose. On the palate there is a rough acid, oxydiced aromas and a hint of mineral. Burning alcoholic finish. Label says 13% alcohol, but that is probably a modest suggestion. 17-18% is more like it.
