An Unusual Thanksgiving Treat (K ?)

by Daniel Rogov » Wed Dec 02, 2009 6:02 am

Sent to me by one of my faithful (and not infrequently good-humored) correspondents, a YouTube report on a turkey testicle festival. And yes, deep fried, breaded turkey testicles are quite tasty!!

For a chuckle see the piece at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNf9t8R-ZWo

As to whether turkey testicles are kosher or not - not known to me.

Kosher or not, they're still fowl.

(Although my revulsion at the occassional Testicle Festival always reminds me of a "Slow Food" article I read a few years ago which detailed a regional dish to be found on the southeast corner of Italy consisting of tuna sperm. The author, no doubt anticipating that many readers would be like me and involuntarily retch, took great pains to point out that most of us eat eggs of fish and fowl, and they are the female's sex cell(s). To discount the male's version is hypocritcal at best, homophobic at worst. I don't care. I ain't eating it. But...pass the eggs.)

Sure they're kosher. You can get them on Agrippas Street in Jerusalem. At the Central Asian grills in Queens, NY they have lamb testicles on the menu.

The dude looks drunk. As far as testicles, what's the big deal? Aren’t the bull testicles considered delicacy?

I'll refrain from insinuating ejaculations, and just refer readers to the big festival planned for Serbia:

The puns on the talkback say much. I'll not add a pun but I will quote Brillat-Savarin: "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are". 8)
