It's partially the professional photographers, but it's mainly the food stylists. If you can watch one work in person, you will be blown away, Bob.

What Cynthia said: The whole point of that Website, Bob, as I understand it, is to shine a bright light on the way food stylists and commercial photographers can <i>fake</i> the appearance of fast food. The "amateur" photos are real.

um, I think Bob got it.

Hilarity aside, and I'm certainly someone who appreciates this sort of humor, what this really illustrates is how bad food looks after being wrapped up, put in a bag, and knocked around a bit before finding its penultimate resting place. I don't think Thomas Keller's best would look too good after a half hour and a bouncy car trip encased in a polystyrene clamshell or wrapped tightly in foil laminate and shoved between two large Diet Cokes.

Those photos are funny--it brings to mind the one time my son got something from a McDonald's, unwrapped it and exclaimed, "Hey, I've never seen anything look so like its picture.." It must have not had time to wilt/steam itself/mash down, etc...That was when we had our first discussion of food styling (he was probably in 6th grade).
