Lot's of great places there. Less know and a little off the beaten path is The Black Mountain Bistro. A little on the quirky side but I have had a number of good meals and good times there. http://blackmountainbistro.com/

Not far from http://pisgahbrewing.com/ if you like beer.

During our visit to Asheville last September, Gail and I ate at The Corner Kitchen in Biltmore Village (not in the Estate). We liked the food and atmosphere.

Christina, here are a few Asheville posts from the travel-dining section of our "sister" forum, LouisvilleHotBytes.com. One of the posts also has links to still more Asheville reports. (You don't need to join the forum to read the posts.)

the Grove Park Inn is super interesting and a meal on the porch overlooking the valley is something to do. i enjoyed the shrimp and grits. ashville wine market is very good if you need something to tide you over and there is a nice spot for lunch across the street.

brevard is a nice very small town. music festival is supposed to be very good. a couple of decent restaurants with outdoor cafes on the edge of town too.
