Prettiest apple I've ever seen

It's called Mountain Rose. It's an heirloom variety native to the Mount Hood area (Oregon, or Oregon/Washington border) grown by an apple specialist headquartered here in Bellingham. I'd never seen them before and had absolutely no idea that it would be pink inside when I cut it open! It's a softer apple, which I'm not keen on, but it's perhaps the winiest tasting apple I've ever had, which I'm very keen on so call me a new fan.

Very cool! Wish some would make it our way! It looks a lot like a potato we grow of the same name that has pink flesh, in addition to the pink skin. I love unique looking produce.

How cool--would love to see those potatoes. There are probably as many potato varieties as apples in the world--what a shame that normal grocer-retail distills them all down to white, red and purple.

Speaking of purple, check these out. Just bought them, also one marble sized that I cut open just to get a preview of the interior color. Couldn't have been more disappointed to find it just plain white inside. These were organically grown and called "Fiesta".

Bought the truffle in Seattle yesterday. It and the potatoes have about two more hours to live--lunch, with a green salad!

Joy, those are gorgeous potatoes. Washington should be full of amazing potatoes, it's so surprising to me that there aren't cool varieties at every turn.

Paul--by 'winey' I mean tangier, more pretty acidity in a way you taste before you perceive the sugars.
