And no, this isn't a debate between Peter May and Mark Lipton. It's an article that appeared on a new website called Thrillist.

I do not know why Mark Lipton was singled out in your post, Jenise (I am sure there is a good reason) but I would be curious to know how people in general on the board define "British food".

I wouldn't argue that one is better than the other

I can understand why that when you travel abroad and find food there that's different and you can't find what you are familiar and comfortable with you then don't rate it.

Also food in restaurants is not the same as what people are eating at home, because (in UK certainly) people mostly go to restaurants to have food they don't usually have at home.

There's lots I like about eating in US restaurants and some things I don't like -- but the cultures are different, one's not better than the other.

Indeed. But the article/post was written with a nice bit of punchy humor, so even if the analysis was weak, I found it a funny read.
