I'll be out there from Thursday night through Sunday morning, staying near the convention center. Anyone have any recommended spots for eating and/or drinking?

Just bumping this up to record for posterity that if you happen to be in Providence, be sure to get over to Atwells Ave. It's an old Italian neighborhood that's hung on to a bunch of restaurants serving very good Italian-American food. I had some excellent veal and very good lobster ravioli at a couple of these places. There's also a bakery that claims to have been started in 1916 that has an eye-popping array of cakes, pastries, cookies, etc.

It's a nice area for soaking in that old Mafia-boss-hangout feeling.

Not familiar with Providence per se, but in nearby New Bedford the main drag has a good selection of wine stores, including Douglas Wine & Spirits.
