Upon cleaning a whole pickled herring, I found two good sized roe sacks inside - perhaps 3-4 oz. total. Any ideas for what to do?

Bernard, in the UK, one can still find Smoked Cods Roe. (Weep) I am getting all misty eyed!! Seem to remember panfried?
I did a google on pickled herring roe and a whole bunch of interesting info/recipes.
