Too bad - he is a talented guy, but that isn't a guarantee that one is suited to get along in society. I think Bastianich did the right thing (for them).
Money and success often seem to foster self indulgence - you see quite a bit of arrogance and self entitlement among the rich and famous.
The NYT article has a lot of details, I didn't previously understand that the Bastianich Group provided management services but didn't own the restaurants. Bottom line, Batali is getting bought out, presumably for much less than he would have gotten absent his behavior, but it's still a payday. Sexual harassment, tip stealing, you won't find me in one of those restaurants for quite a while.
