Chili Ice Cream

by Peter May » Wed Mar 14, 2007 3:32 pm

The internet cafe I used in the Cape had a good range of ice cream flavours, but what I enjoyed was their Chilli Ice Cream, simple vanilla ice cream with 5 drops of a red hot sauce on top.

This wasn't one of those mild sweet chili sauces, but a local brand Bushmans Chilli Sauce which is a searingly hot sauce.

So, take a cone or cup, add one scoop of vanilla ice cream, space five drops of hot chili sauce on the top, add another scoop on top and add 5 drops of sauce on that.

By the time you have licked down the first scoop the first drops are integrated in the ice cream and are a nice surprise when you get to them.

We love chiles on ice cream! We usually use powder instead of sauce though.

One of my favorite things is hot fudge sauce infused with habanero powder over vanilla ice cream. Yum!

Color me officially intrigued.

My wife'll vomit the next time we have ice cream. :P
I can certainly see that you know your wine. Most of the guests who stay here wouldn't know the difference between Bordeaux and Claret.
