Can one successfully freeze (and thaw!) HUMMUS? (not humans!)

by Cynthia Wenslow » Wed Apr 04, 2007 8:03 pm

I made way too much roasted red pepper hummus the other day (only 1 recipe's worth) and I don't think I'll eat it all before it would start to turn. Can I salvage this by freezing the extra?

What say you all?

Thanks!

I have no experience freezing hummus but, offhand, I can't imagine why not. It's just whipped beans. Even if the water should separate a bit, just beat it up again when you want to serve.

I do this as a matter of course, Cynthia. No problem, especially if you thaw slowly and avoid the ice crystals.

I have to start scanning the subject lines a little slower. I though you were asking if you could freeze and thaw humans!

Aw crap - I have to get my first cup of coffee before looking at this board.

I thought your thread said:

"Can one successfully freeze (and thaw!) humans? "
