WTN: Loosen Brothers "Dr. L" Riesling 2004

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Jun 14, 2006 8:42 pm

MSR.

Screwcap closure.

Clear in the glass.

Bursting with ripe, clean lemon and lime, spicy, peppery, zingy acidity, sweet, almost candied, lightly effervecent. The sweetness became a bit thick and cloying about half way through the bottle.

Long, tangy, mouthwatering finish.

Fairly priced at $13.95 Canadian.

You reminded me it's about time to open another one of these. Thanks Bruce.

I brought a bottle of this to the Riesling Taste-Off at NiagaraCOOL and liked it a lot. I'll post my scores a bit later.

Thanks Bruce for this post! Funny, I had been talking to mother and suggested she visit Tescos (UK) and pick up a bottle or two. She called me today and found it on the shelves for seven pounds..."Oh its very expensive Bobby". She will enjoy for sure! Swiss by the way.

Oh, thats a pretty good price, at least $4 more here.

Generally agree - just a little sweet for me. Locally A$20, and therefore not competitive (seeing as it's 66% of the Lay Kabinett price).
cheers,
Graeme

You are right about the sweetness Graeme. I didn't really notice it until after the third or fourth glass, so I would think this would work better with a crowd (rather than my wife and myself) where everyone would get only a glass or two.
