WTN Dry Creek Vineyard "Taylor's Vineyard Musque" 2001

The bottle says it's a clone of Sauvignon Blanc. I got it through the winery "club" last June. If I'd tasted it at the winery, I probably would have passed. Good SB, outrageously high price ($25). 93% Sauv. Musque (clone), 7% Viognier. It's a medium straw color, and balanced on the citrus side. My nose is notoriously numb, so I didn't notice anything in particular about that.

Hey, John! Glad to see you here. That Musque character is usually very noticeable, and to me Muscatty, although that might be mostly in my imagination ...

There's nothing muscatty at all about this wine! It's big and hearty for a SB, "only" 13% alcohol, but it has none of the dustiness that I associate with a dry-vinted muscatel-ish wine.

You really need to taste some of the '98 Swan Angelo's Old Vines (which I no longer have, and the grapes got torn out).
