Had you been snacking on sea salt and cracked black pepper kettle crisps, with a bottle of Brooklands Ale, you would have been watching the England cricket XI succumb to the South Africa cricket XI on Sky Sports. Of course the result may have been different on Eurosport.

Life is not good, at least not this week.

Charlie, Hi....

A great many beers are made under licence in Israel and a great many imported but the two mass-produced beers of the country are Maccabi and Goldstar. I have thought that those who drink Maccabi would be drinkng Bud out of tins if they lived in the USA, but Goldstar is actually quite a pleasant lager. It often surprises people that when I do order beer in restaurants or pubs (not infrequently) that if they have Goldstar draught it is to that I move quite comfortably.

They sell the malt drink under that label here. I like it. Very sweet.
