WTN: 2005 Delta Vineyard Pinot Noir Marlborough New Zealand.

by Bob Ross » Tue Aug 15, 2006 9:00 pm

2005 Delta Vineyard Pinot Noir Marlborough New Zealand. $10 a glass at Endless Vines, Franklin Lakes. Second vintage from new vines. 40% new oak. 13.9% alcohol.

Couldn't find out much about the winery; Sue?

Deep red color, deep hue, pretty cranberry aroma wiht hints of pepper, very good berry tastes, a bit simple, but very fresh and clean, spice notes, light tannin and a bit of acidity, medium mouth feel, very little oakiness, long single note, refreshing and interesting finish. 3 1/2*.

Addendum: Elsewhere I mention some struggles with the specifications of a new ton and a half shed that we played teeter/totter with to get it home. Teodoro and Jose Dos agreed to share a glass of wine with me in celebration of our successes. The folks at Endless Vine were happy to see us, we enjoyed our victory and our wine and best of all -- the barkeep let me open the bottle!

Simple pleasure, but I've got a big cellar primarily reds primarily before 2000 or so, almost all under cork. It's rare for me to open a screw cap, and I love working with things that work just the way they are supposed to. (Last night I spent twelve minutes struggling with a crumbling cork, so the comparative pleasure was all the more joyous.)

What fun it was to move that shed!

What fun it was to open that bottle!

What a child I am!

Regards, Bob

Canadian, Bob. There's a photo here of another size. Ours is the ten by eight Balmoral, the simple one top left.

If I ever conquer posting photos on WLDG, I'll post a picture of the shed in situ featuring that dratted ridgepole and the support beam that caused so much angst.

Wow, nice looking shed!! Would be nice with a few winelabels plastered around and a few empties by the door! My sheds do not look so grand.

Have a few like the old shed top left. That one would add some character to your digs!!
