WTN: Excellent QPR German Scheurebe

by Jim Grow » Mon Aug 21, 2006 9:28 pm

I had a bottle of the Dr. Ganz 2002 Scheurebe Kabinett from Bretzenheimer Hofgut tonite and was impressed. It had a medium straw color with nice grapefruit nose and taste with perfect acidity. For under $12, I'll be getting more. 10.0 % abv and from the Nahe. Unfortunately I have never seen this in Ohio and bought it in Indiana. No mention of this producer in the search data base so thought I'd add this one. Nothing to contemplate over but very well balanced and a great summer sipper. Imported by Michael Skurnik.

FYI, Ganz is no longer in the Theise/Skurnik portfolio.

Jim
I had a 1976 Auslese Scheurebe a while back and it was a very handy wine, from a normally average producer. I recall someone mentioning it did well in hotter years, so maybe one 2003 german white to look out for?
regards
Ian
