New EdmundsStJohn Syrah....

by TomHill » Tue Sep 05, 2006 11:02 am

It's been awhile since we've had a new EdStJ Syrah. His 2002 Syrahs were all blended into one Syrah called The Shadow. The price?? Yowza....only $11.50/btl. We'll be ordering a bunch. The '01 Calif Syrah is drinking sooooo good right now.
Steve is going to be cutting his production level by 50% this year. So I expect the wines will be even better.

That is good news.

Do you mean production of the CA syrah, or all his wines?

EdStJ Production...

by TomHill » Wed Sep 06, 2006 9:01 am

Steve says he's dropping total production by 50% in 2006, but doesn't give any details. I think he'll stick by his tried & true vnyds (Bassetti, Wylie-Fenaughty, Witter, Rozet) but may just take less fruit. He's pretty happy w/ the fruit from those vnyds.
He just cites the usual trials&tribulations of getting the marketplace to absorb all his production. Hard for me to understand...the wines are, across the board, excellent, distinctive, and very reasonably priced. And ageworthy, even some of the whites.
