The George Foreman Grill Strikes Again (One for Rachel Ray)

by Gary Barlettano » Mon Sep 11, 2006 7:17 pm

This is really not a topic worthy of a post, but it just tasted so darn good, and was so darn easy, and went so darn fast that I had to write about it.

I wanted lunch, a real lunch, meat, grunt! I looked through the fridge and found some thick, rock-hard frozen, center cut, boneless pork chops buried under the Trader Joe pizzas and the bag of frozen poppy seed bagels. Frozen, hmmmm ... ?

Well, I tossed them in their 0º Kelvin state on a preheated Lean Mean Grilling Machine, sprinkled them with a little salt, and let them do their thing for about 20 minutes, turning them once by 90º to get them funky grill marks. Halfway through, I placed a few slices of apple on the grill. As a side, my favorite, I nuked some Brussel sprouts and drizzled them with a little EVOO. It all took less than a half an hour and those chops were perfect. Crispy golden brown with char marks on the outside. Tender and juicy on the inside. I enjoyed them with a few dollops of creamed horseradish. Their aroma is still filling the hallway.

Fast food, but real food ... yum! Thanks, George!

And tonight I get to kick back and have some Loobia Polow made by my dear friend, Zari. (After which she's going to make me take a two mile vertical hike on Mt. Wanda.)

Nice use of the GF grill! I've still only used mine for panini - I'll have to try it with real meat one of these days.

I usually just use it for burgers, but have done a tenderized chuck steak (read my post on the Deni), and fish. I like it because I'm usually just cooking for me.
