2001 Redoma from Niepoort. It went through a dumb phase for a while but for the last 3-6 months has been back to the wine that I find hard to resist. Only wine I ever bought more than a case. Still half a case and a half which is good as I believe this wine will continue to drink well for another decade. Not sure if you can still find it. They were blowing it out 2-3 years ago and you could find it for $20 at that time. Great bargain.

Top winery: Niepoort. Top wine: Niepoort Charme.

Other wines: Pintas, Poeira, Quinta do Vale Meão, Xisto, Quinta do Vallado, Quinta do Passadouro, Quinta do Crasto...

Agree Passadouro, Crasto and Quinta do Vale Meão. I am also keen on Luis Pato plus Quinta de Ventozelo. Have some wonderful choices here in Edmonton!

I still need to taste many of the more exaulted wines (e.g. I've never had a red from Niepoort - I'd love to find a $20 Redoma) but from what I've been able to taste, reds only:

Quinta de la Rosa ('07 reserva is VG)
Vallado (wines get more interesting above the basic Douro, but the price soars)
Tecedeiras
Quinta do Vale D. Maria
Quinta de Macedos (very small, organic, intense wines from the Torto valley)
Crasto (again, once you get above the basic Douro)
Quanta Terra (and the 'lesser' wine, Terra a Terra)

There are also some excellent 'bargain' bottles that pop up from the Douro, like Borges Quinta da Solalheira '07. Hard to imagine a better $11 red....

I don't know who was dumping but I picked up 2 cases at $17/btl and knew I should have grabbed more initially. They (MacArthur's) blew through all they got in under a week and brought more in which they sold at $22/btl at which time I picked up another 2 cases. That lasted about 10 days and they never got any more in after that. Probably my best ever wine bargain.

for me Crasto Reserva is one of my favorite with 2004
2005 and 2006 also superb, I try 4 or 5 times the 2007, but I put those way for bite

of corse Vinha Ponte 2004 is amazing & Maria Teresa 2005
