World porridge making championships

I like porridge sometimes for breakfast, usually with syrup or honey, but this is the first time I have across a world porridge making contest :

In Book I of James Stephens' book The Crock of Gold (a marvellous book dating to 1912), the Thin Woman says to her husband, the Philosopher:
"Your stirabout is on the hob ... You can get it for yourself. I would not move the breadth of my nail if you were dying of hunger. I hope there's lumps in it."

There aren't any lumps in my stirabout ( at least not as far as I know ).
