Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu sur lie 2010 – Domaine de la Touquetière – Alc.12 - was was another purchase at Carrefour's Foire aux Vins and far superior to the Sauvignons noted in the WF thread.

I enjoyed the 2009 and, when I saw these on offer at c.€10 for 3, I did not hesitate. It was maybe a touch crisper than the 2009 and equally mineral showing salt and iodine notes, together with some juicy fruit and a touch of “gras” and it complemented perfectly the first "moules marinières" (mussels) of the season; 15.5/20+++ QPR!!!.

I will buy a couple more three packs before the end of the Foire.

'10 was a more nervy, less blowsy year in the Nantais, though "blowsy" should be taken in context with regard to Muscadet. I really like some of the bigger '09s (Pepiere Gras Moutons, Clisson) but for everyday drinking I prefer the '10s (and '11s).

Just seen the `12 vintage report on Sarah Ahmeds blog. Sounds way better than those `11s.

Thanks for that link, Bob. The 2011 version of this M Côtes de Grandlieu was much less good than the 2010; indeed I haven't bought a second bottle, though I should so as to check that the main problem was not extreme youth.

I like the sound of those 2012s but I note that the Sydneys include neither the Chenins nor the CabFrancs, my favourites, in their "best ever seen". I need to spend my time perusing Jim's Loire to find out about these.
