1985 Sassicaia on 50th Anniversary

by Gary Kahle » Sat Oct 27, 2012 4:05 pm

My last bottle of 85 Sassicaia has been resting in my cellar for 17 years while I decided to sell it for a nice profit or drink on a special occasion. Over the years there have been many conversations with friends about “them only being our friend in hope they would be here when it was opened”. Well, a special occasion won out as we opened it last Saturday on our 50th wedding anniversary. What an awesome bottle of wine! I don’t do points and not good at descriptors but I will say it was one of the best bottles I’ve ever drunk (possibly the BEST).
Two of our best friends were able to join us and as for all the others… only time will tell if they are still friends.

Cheers,
Gary

Happy anniversary! That's a great reason to open a great bottle.
