WTN: Tue-Boeuf Cheverny Rouge "Rouillon" 2011

2011 Clos du Tue-Boeuf Cheverny "Rouillon"
23€; 11,5% abv; a blend of Gamay & Pinot Noir. Sweet and ripe, really lovely fresh Pinosity one the nose. It has a nice savoury touch, too, that smells a bit stemmy (but IIRC it actually isn't stemmy?). More ripe than the 2010 but still a great deal of fun, but of course fun in a more fruity and less acidic way. Finishes fresh. Very clean and pure. Lovely. I really like what Puzelat has been doing the past few years.

Fun is indeed a good descriptor of Rouillon. I don't often get around to drinking it, but always have fun when I do.

And I can't always keep up with all the Puzelat wines each vintage, but Otto implies that there has been some sort of change/improvement at Puzelat in recent years?

I used to find them frustratingly variable. The past couple years everything has been routinely excellent. But I have rather small sample sizes, too, so perhaps I've just been lucky.

Hi Otto -

Thank you for the note. Although I've liked the Puzelat wines more in the past couple of years, it's hard for me to say if it is because they've improved, or if my palate has changed slightly in that time.
It does seem as though Thierry's lineup/availability changes frequently, at least around here. I'm still hoping to try a 100% Menu Pineau from him someday.
