WTN: Las Brujas Tannat 2010

by Bruce Hayes » Wed Oct 31, 2012 3:29 pm

Canelones, Uruguay
Gimenez Mendez

Purple in the glass.

Spicy, chocolate on the nose.

Medium weight, chocolate, full in the mouth, black cherry, roasted notes, earthy, good acidity, spicy.

Drying with some chocolate on the finish

I have very little experience with this grape but I was very impressed with this example

Purchased at $14.95 (Canadian).

I have never had a good tannat from Uruguay, although I have had several deplorably bad ones. Maybe there is hope?

I should get around to trying the Don Pascual Reserve - the only one we see locally.
