WTN: 2007 Chartogne-Taillet Champagne Les Heurtebises

by David M. Bueker » Sun Nov 04, 2012 7:03 pm

Drank the subject Champagne on Saturday evening. It's a wonderful bottle, with a fascinating warm hearb streak that glides over the top of citrus, apple and yeasty elements. The measuring stick I use for Champagne is how fast my wife drinks it, and she went through a couple of glasses in very short order. The second measure is whether she then says "we should get some of this", and that comment came about two minutes after her first glass.

The depth of the wine would indicate a certain level of ageability to me, though it's so delicious, that it will be hard ot keep my hands off of our other bottles. The one thing I would like to do in the near term is serve this Chardonnay wine, along with the Chartogne-Taillet Les Barres (a Pinot Meunier bottling). I will also be on the lookout for the Pinot Noir based bottling that is also supposedly around.
