WTN: A Pink Moussé

by David M. Bueker » Tue Jan 01, 2013 12:32 pm

NV Moussé Fils Champagne Brut Rosé Tradition - France, Champagne (12/31/2012)
Deep pink color - nearly a true, translucent red. Lots of red fruit aromas immediately upon opening - they quite literally filled the room as I opened the bottle. Vigorous mousse that created a lovely pink froth (this might be the prettiest Champagne I have ever poured), and then the bubbles sustained a very long time in the glass, hardly declining at all. Dominated by its red fruit elements, the wine was very close to a red with bubbles versus what I normally consider rosé Champagne. There was even a touch of tannin. Overall this was quite delicious, and very capable of standing up to rich food.

Disgorged May 2012.

Mostly Pinot Meunier, with some Pinot Noir.
