Forum maintenance downtime will continue off and on

by Robin Garr » Fri Jan 04, 2013 9:32 pm

Thanks for your continued patience, folks. We'll be up as much as possible, but the forum may go dark now and then - particularly tonight - as we migrate to a new set of servers.

Thanks for the great work you do Robin! As a software engineer/architect I know how little thanks people get for things that should work! So thanks! Love the site, it is getting better and better - edits work now and the such.

Best Wishes for a great, successful, and happy New Year!

We're migrating to new computer servers, so the forums were down for a while this morning. Everything should be back now, though!

Please keep us informed about bugs, if any. (The "Cliffwoodorganic.com" link is temporary during domain migration ... don't worry, we know about that. :)

Not sure if it is my bug or yours...Friends and Fun is not on my drop down list anymore.

Karen, I see you're posting in F&F ... did the problem clear itself up?

Robin, I did post in there this morning, but now in the Jump To drop down box, Friends and Fun is not listed.

Well, I just went there after posting this and it showed up...it seems to go in and out. Will let you know if it happens again. Thanks

OK, here is another hint for you...it seems when I post here, Friends and Fun appears in the drop down box. When I haven't posted, it is gone

I hope this is a temporary inconvenience, Jeff - I'm pretty sure it's because the temporary URL above doesn't coincide with the URL on your "cookies." As soon as we restore our URL the issue should be cleared.

Lost the ability to search for a member's posts. Of course, some people may not want to have their words come back to life. :D

Thanks for that bug report, which had not been noticed previously. I assume it, too, will resolve itself when the domain names are sorted, but if not, we'll put it high up on the fix list.

Further: I hate to hear this when I'm the one calling in a report, Bill, but "I can't replicate that problem." I searched for your posts, then searched for "beef" within your posts, and got successful results both times. The word search was a little slow - it took maybe a minute for the results to come back - but I definitely had the ability to search.

If you don't mind, could you give me a little more detail on what happens when you do a specific search - details, and any error messages you may receive? Browser and operating system you're using? I want to fix this, but problems get twice as tricky when different users are getting different results. :P

Thanks for letting me know, sir! I guess it falls under "just one of those things."

If I check the box "sign me in automatically each time I visit", why do I have to sign in each time I visit?

Hooray!

We've had a tech doing some tune-up work today, and that's why you may have had problems getting to the forum now and then. We THINK we're getting the last odds and ends cleaned up, but as always, please be patient, know that we want to finish this project just as much as you do, and we're almost there. Knock wood.
