I opened a bottle of this to see if I wanted to re-order from a Raleigh source. I may get two more bottles. 14% abv. Dark, dense, and opaque. Deep purple color. Pronounced aromatics with dark cherries most prominent. Shows viscosity, forming legs on the side of the glass. On the palate I find a blend of dark cherries, cherry liqueur, cedar shavings and fine tannins. Can be enjoyed as a sipping wine for those who favor bolder, modern-style wines, but I think it benefits from pairing with red meat in some guise. I had it one evening with stuffed peppers and then with veal Marsala with maitake mushrooms.
