WTN: 1985 Heitz Napa Cabernet Sauvignon

1985 Heitz Napa Cabernet Sauvignon
Eucalyptus, mint, Irish moss, boiled figs, sea buckthorn and white truffles on the nose. Perfect combination of fresh fruit (plum, elderberry, blackberry) with mineral notes and fine tannins on the palate. Complex notes of tobacco, sweet fermented grass, green tea, salt, tar, smoke. Vintage-Port-like in style. This wine demonstrates great heat like a sauna in the middle of winter time. Another example of a rock solid Heitz wine, embarrassing almost every Bordeaux of the same vintage. - Cheers, Rainer

That might be a bit strong but this is a FABULOUS wine. Wish I still had some. Thanks for the note.

Hi Tom. I really think a perfect bottle of 1985 Heitz Napa Cabernet could easily beat at least 1985 Mouton Rothschild and 1985 Lafite.

Eucalyptus, mint, Irish moss, boiled figs, sea buckthorn...

Imagine my disappointment having immediately dragged out my Le Nez du Vin, and...no little vial of sea buckthorn essence!

We obviously need to expand our repertoir of scents!
